Three Essential Oils to Repel Ants Naturally

If you have a pet anteater then that’s one way to get rid of ants naturally. But they may not be available in your area.

Essential Oils are another natural solution to an ant invasion, as they are organic, chemical-free, and easier to find. They are great for repelling ants naturally!

Cedarwood Essential Oil

The strong aroma of Cedarwood Essential Oil disorients ants and prevents them from getting into your home. Cedarwood Essential Oil also works to repel fire ants.

How to use:

Apply 5 drops of Cedarwood EO on a cotton ball and place by the areas you are seeing ants come in. Diffuse Cedarwood Essential Oil in the affected room.

Cinnamon Bark Essential Oil

It may smell like Christmas but the potent content of cinnamaldehyde found in this oil helps successfully combat and prevent ant invasion.

How to use:

Make a DIY ant-repellent spray by mixing 15 drops of Cinnamon Bark EO. 15 drops of Clary Sage EO, ½ cup of white vinegar and ½ cup of distilled water in an 8-ounce spray bottle. Secure the lid and shake the bottle to help distribute the oil. Spray the affected areas three times a day until the ants are gone.

Patchouli Essential Oil

If you’re interested in eliminating rather than deterring ants from your kitchen, Patchouli Essential Oil may be your optimal choice. Research has shown that the powerful aroma of Patchouli Essential Oil helps eliminate a variety of common pests, including black ants.

How to use:

Apply 8 drops of Pachouli EO on a cotton pad and rub the oil on the affected windowsill, door and other access points. Apply 5 drops of the oil on a cotton ball and place it in the affected kitchen cabinets and drawers. Change the cotton balls every two days until the ants disappear.
