Spring has sprung and so have the ant mounds! As you’re out in your yard planting gardens and watering the lawn, I’m sure you’ve noticed all the ant activity that’s happening. There are a few things you can do with outdoor maintenance to help keep ants from becoming a problem in your yard and eventually travelling into your home.

Keep down the weeds. Any vegetation found near patios and walls may hide ant hills or their trails. An increase in weeds in your yard just provides more places for ant hills to pop up and go unnoticed.

Water is one of the main things that drive ants. Make sure sprinkler and drip systems are in working order and that there aren’t areas around your house that have leaks. Collection of water can draw ants.

Clean up dog poop! Unfortunately, some ants are attracted to dog dropping as they provide a source food and water. Keeping your yard feces-free will help it from getting overrun with ants.
